Parwich Methodist Chapel
Parwich Methodist Chapel was closed on Sunday 4th May 2008 after 159 years of worship in the building. At the final service, the Superintendant Minister, the Rev'd Tim Morris, reminded worshipppers of the origins of Methodism in Parwich in the early 1800s, and described some of the events in the history of the chapel. Words of greeting were read out from the President of the Methodist Conference, the Rev'd Dr Martyn Atkins, and the Rev'd Wes Blakey, Chairman of the Nottingham and Derby Methodist District. Previous ministers of the Ashbourne Circuit, the Rev'd Harry Jones and the Rev'd Chris Eddy, had also sent their good wishes.

Rev'd Tim Morris said that closure of the chapel building marked the end of one stage in the life of the chapel but the beginning of another, likening it to "going through a door". Chapel members will be very welcome in St. Peter's church, as they always have been, both for their own afternoon services in the Lady Chapel and when they join members of St. Peter's congregation for services. We look forward to a new spirit of partnership between Parwich Methodists and St. Peter's, which will bring benefits to all.
